Parents Association News Letter

OCTOBER 2015

Dear Parents & Guardians:

It is with great pleasure that we announce that P.S. 206 has elected new officers for the parents association. The role of the parents association is to help all parents become more involved in their child’s education, communicate ideas and improve the school community.

The new officers for the parents association are as follows:

Co-Presidents: Laura Avelino & Katie Oliver
Secretary: Vanessa Castro
Treasurer: Officer Vacancy

We will have an Expedited Election Meeting
on October 15, 2015 at 6 p.m.

Please make every effort to attend this meeting because we will have elections for the treasurer vacancy and S.L.T. Elections.

As per A-660:

The available executive board position is Treasurer. The only qualification for all offices is that the candidate be a parent of a child in the school.

At this time we would like to give you more information about the next steps and efforts that the parents association will be engaging in for the next couple of weeks.

Please join us for the parent association meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 6 p.m. During our first meeting we will be sharing the mission and goals of the parent association. As a parent your involvement in the parent association is crucial in order for the organization to thrive. Together we will join forces to advocate for our school community, gain more information and learn how to take advantage of the resources that are available to us.

We will give all parents, and guardians the opportunity to become a member and unite with the parent association.

I. Lunch Time Helpers

We are looking for parent volunteers to help during lunch and recess time. Please sign-up to be a lunch time assistant for as many days and lunch periods as possible. If you can sign-up for a regular schedule it would be even better. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Lunch Time Helpers Schedule:
4th Period Lunch- 11 a.m. -12 p.m.
5th Period Lunch- 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Please contact Ms. Castro via e-mail at VCastropa206@gmail.com to sign-up to be a lunch time helper. In your e-mail please include your complete name, contact number, e-mail address, and your child’s name and grade.

II. Event Volunteers

In the future, we will need evening volunteers to assist during school activities, library helpers, fundraising activities, parent-teacher conferences, curriculum nights, and family fun days. You can also contact the above person to express your interest and availability.

III. Parent Translators

If you know English and a second language we could use your talent at our meetings and events. Please sign-up to volunteer.

fundrasing activities

We encourage all families to participate in the Miss Chocolate fund raising efforts. All students should have received their packet. The sale ends on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

 

In the meantime, if you have any ideas for fundraising events please make sure to attend our next parent association meeting.

 

According to the chancellor regulation A-660, all fundraising activities by the parent association must be approved and voted on by the parent membership before fundraising activities are facilitated and approved.
